Aquinnah Cultural Center

Aquinnah Cultural Center, Wampanoag History Museum is a 501-c3 dedicated to preserving, and documenting the Aquinnah Wampanoag self-defined history and culture on the island of Noepe (Martha’s Vineyard). They also provide historical and cultural education and events for both the tribal community and the general public.

Anansi Hayes Media’s designs were informed by a deep appreciation and understanding of both the organization’s goals and the history and lands on which it was founded. The arrowhead icon was created from an artifact in the museum’s collection and is also intended to reference the roofline of the historic home that houses the center. The color palette includes the whites, grays and purples of local Wampum and the clay color is inspired by the federally protected clay cliffs of Aquinnah situated just beyond the center itself. The website offers programing and event listings, donation options, official merch and links to indigenous-owned businesses, as well as a repository of oral histories available to Wampanoag tribal members. Anansi Hayes Media provides ongoing design and web support for internal organization documents and reports.
